Napa vintners Aaron Pott and Stephanie Honig partnered together to create the Missing Thorn lineup of DA wines, including a red, rosé and a sparkling all made from Barbera, and a white wine and sparkling offering made from Albariño. Pott is best known for his classic Napa wines, but with this new project he’s looking to put premium DA wines on the market.

The Missing Thorn wines, made by Mr. Pott in California, were also quite good. The white was made with dealcoholized albariño, water, grape juice concentrate, natural flavors and gum arabic, which Mr. Pott called a “flavor encapsulator,” giving his wines more richeness and density. It was balanced and seemed relatively complete with a minimal sense of missing components. The red, made with dealcoholized malbec, was likewise balanced and refreshing.
